Root Canal Treatment

Category Root Canal Treatment

A root canal is a procedure that is used to save a tooth that has been severely decayed or contaminated. The nerve and pulp are extracted, and the interior of the tooth is washed and sealed during a root canal operation. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth can become infected, resulting in abscesses.
The natural cavity inside the middle of the tooth is referred to as a "root canal." The pulp, also known as the pulp chamber, is the soft part of the root canal. The nerve of the tooth is located inside the root canal.
The nerve of a tooth is no longer essential for its health and function after it has emerged from the gums. Its only function is sensory -- to provide the sensation of hot or cold. The presence or absence of a nerve will not affect the day-to-day functioning of the tooth.
